Питер Грегсон — один из ведущих виолончелистов и композиторов Великобритании, выпускник Королевской академии музыки. Peter Gregson (b.1987) is a renowned Composer, Cellist, and Deutsche Grammophon recording artist set to release his fifth studio album ‘Patina’ on September 10th 2021.
His music is regularly sought out by the most exciting choreographers and dance companies in the world, recently including Theatrehaus Stuttgart / Gauthier Dance, Joffrey Ballet, PA Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, and Ballet BC.
Amongst his film credits, Roger Michell’s ‘Blackbird’ (starring Kate Winslet and Susan Sarandon) and the late Alan Rickman’s ‘A Little Chaos’ as well as the Soundtrack for the popular video game ‘Boundless’ receiving critical acclaim.
His music has featured on some of the most popular TV series - from Netflix’s hit ‘Bridgeton’ to HBO’s ‘The New Pope’ by Paolo Sorrentino. Brands including Balenciaga, Burberry, Dior, Ralph Lauren, Pat McGrath have all featured Gregson’s music in recent campaigns and runway shows.
As a cellist, he has performed all around world, from The Royal Albert Hall in London to a jazz club in Beijing; from the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg to Capitol Studios in Hollywood, which was filmed and released in January 2021.
He is a prolific artist, most recently releasing the stunning ‘Somina’ which was commissioned for ‘World Sleep Day’.

Capitol Studios in Los Angeles hosted a star-studded celebration of Deutsche Grammophon’s commitment to the contemporary classical scene. The exclusive DG "Composers’ Label Night" shone the spotlight on the wealth of cutting-edge music created in recent years by DG artists, including Joep Beving, Peter Gregson, the late Jóhann Jóhannsson, Agnes Obel, Dustin O’Halloran and Max Richter, not to mention Hildur Guðnadóttir, currently riding a huge awards-season wave of success. On stage last night: Peter Gregson, Dustin O’Halloran and Agnes Obel, playing to an invited audience of industry professionals, including movie producers, media content providers, independent music supervisors and senior figures from Hollywood’s major film studios.
From that night comes this live release of Peter Gregson and five fellow cellists opening the evening by performing music from Bach Recomposed, the Scottish composer-cellist’s critically acclaimed Deutsche Grammophon debut album.

Cellist Peter Gregson's Bach Recomposed versions of Bach's unaccompanied cello suites appeared in 2018, featuring rather ambient arrangements of the works for a complement of six cellos, with synthesizer layers added by Gregson. These performances of Gregson's pieces were recorded in early 2021 and have found commercial success with the present EP. It's possible that that success is due to the fact that listeners can get an idea of what the set is like in just 14 minutes, but the EP will also be of interest to admirers of Gregson's original work. Most noticeable is the transfer of the recording venue to Capitol Studios in Los Angeles, which provides an ideal ambiance for Gregson's music. Many of Gregson's original arrangements retained a good deal of Bach's melodic material, but here, he has selected some of the more minimal items from his original group, heightening the meditative quality imparted by the Capitol studio. As before, the music is accessible to anyone, from aficionados of pop electronics to those interested in the application of experimental electronic techniques to the classical repertory, and the music is worth the time for anyone.
