Pity Party is Sona Koloyan's debut release; an entirely self-made album of songs all under two minutes with mastering by Naomi Jackson of the Omnii collective. Armed with quiet vocals and midi organ swells recorded in various bedrooms, Pity Party explores the subtle yet all-consuming nuances of otherness experienced as an immigrant in the UK. Sona's Armenian heritage is an un-erasable part of her identity, and its meaning as a lifelong foreigner is always ever-changing, transforming, pushing and pulling. Utilising all she could use, from iPhones to underwear drawers, Pity Party is an intimate confession of anger, longing, identity, and self-love.
