(Country) Pete Coal - Better Than The Booze - 2015, MP3, 320 kbps

Pete Coal was born on April 25th, 1972 as. When he was twelve, his elementary school was signing kids up for band instruments, and Pete was interested. When he took the information sheet home, his mother said, "You know your Uncle has a guitar that I'm sure he'd let you borrow!" Well, that sounded great to him, and soon his Uncle brought it over. It was a beautiful white Fender Stratocaster electric guitar, with a huge Peavey 2x12 amplifier. All it took was seeing that guitar and he was hooked. The next week his parents set him up for guitar lessons at Durdell's Music Store in Toledo. These lessons continued on for two full years, and his Uncle Ed still generously let him use his guitar and amp.
At the time, Pete was really into Hard Rock, and Heavy Metal groups such as Van Halen (he was in awe of Eddie Van Halen), The Scorpions (he loved Matthias Jabs), and Dio (he considers Vivian Campbell one of his favorite players ever), etc. He tried to form bands in high school, but it always ended up being him and a drummer jamming away. No full band really formed.
Well, about the time he turned 23, something caught his ear on the jukebox of a local bar. It was Tim McGraw's song "Renegade", soon followed by "I like it, I love it". What was this music?!! He had obviously heard some country music on the radio growing up, but it was an afterthought to the heavier music he adored. But the music coming from the jukebox sounded...cool! This was when Pete fell in love with Country music. Don't get him wrong, he still loves Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, but county music is like no other type of music to him. It's the music that he writes.
Around that time he met a guy named Adam through mutual friends. One night Pete brought his guitar over and played an original song called, "Dream". Everyone liked it, especially Adam, whose interest had peaked. Adam was already known for having a great voice via Karaoke, and even though he had never written a song before, he became a very talented songwriter. And that day Pete and Adam started writing songs together. Over the course of a year, they would write and record what would be the Back 40 album, "Country 'Nuff". It was entitled that because the music was what they considered "alternative" country, but they thought it was country enough! Later, Pete took on the stage name of Pete Coal.
So Pete finally got himself a band adding a drummer and bass player to the group. They played out quite a bit for a couple of years getting gigs at different bars, opening up for the pop group All For One, (who had a huge hit with the John Michael Montgomery song, "I swear"), and becoming the house band at a local neighborhood bar. Well, as fate would have it, life happened. Pete got married, had two kids, and landed a job at Chrysler. It was then that he put down his guitar, supposedly for good. Ten years later, he picked it up again with goals of being a songwriter for other artists and wrote what would be the first of a collection of songs that would be on the Better Than The Booze album.
