Vivo Sonhando 02:59 Доп. информация: All Music Review One of the biggest-selling jazz albums of all time, not to mention bossa nova’s finest moment, Getz/Gilberto trumped Jazz Samba by bringing two of bossa nova’s greatest innovators — guitarist/singer João Gilberto and composer/pianist Antonio Carlos Jobim — to New York to record with Stan Getz. The results were magic. Ever since Jazz Samba, the jazz marketplace had been flooded with bossa nova albums, and the overexposure was beginning to make the music seem like a fad. Getz/Gilberto made bossa nova a permanent part of the jazz landscape not just with its unassailable beauty, but with one of the biggest smash hit singles in jazz history — “The Girl From Ipanema,” a Jobim classic sung by João’s wife, Astrud Gilberto, who had never performed outside of her own home prior to the recording session. Beyond that, most of the Jobim songs recorded here also became standards of the genre — “Corcovado” (which featured another vocal by Astrud), “So Danço Samba,” “O Grande Amor,” a new version of “Desafinado.” With such uniformly brilliant material, it’s no wonder the album was such a success but, even apart from that, the musicians all play with an effortless grace that’s arguably the fullest expression of bossa nova’s dreamy romanticism ever brought to American listeners. Getz himself has never been more lyrical, and Gilberto and Jobim pull off the harmonic and rhythmic sophistication of the songs with a warm, relaxed charm. This music has nearly universal appeal; it’s one of those rare jazz records about which the purist elite and the buying public are in total agreement. Beyond essential.
Об альбоме (сборнике)
Getz/Gilberto is a jazz bossa nova album released in 1964 by the American saxophonist Stan Getz and Brazilian guitarist João Gilberto, and featuring composer and pianist Antonio Carlos Jobim. Its release created a bossa nova craze in the United States and internationally. It brought together Stan Getz, who had already performed the genre on his LP Jazz Samba, João Gilberto (one of the creators of the style), and Jobim, a celebrated Brazilian composer (and also one of the main creators of the genre), who wrote most of the songs in the album. It became one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time, and turned Astrud Gilberto, who sang on the tracks “The Girl from Ipanema” and “Corcovado”, into an internationally celebrated musician.
и https://rutr.life/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3769006,
Прослушивал на foobar2000 -> mf v-90 dac -> yamaha a-s500 -> audio-technica ath-es7 (elac fs 67.2).
My sound comparison posts from other forum:
1. As for the Getz-Gilberto AP vs Verve 2002 remix. IMHO the remix is a controversial one. It's slightly 'overdone' IMO. I like its better instruments balance and separation, it also has more datail. But its heavy equalisation resulted in some issues. Bass isn't even - some notes are 'overblown', the sybilants (vocal 's','sh'etc. sounds) can sound slightly too offensive. Some high frequency percusive sounds can sound like that too. The remix doesn't preserve much of of the original recording's tube warmness and magic. The AP remaster does (obviously!). For the moment it's quite possible both versions will be my keepers.
2. Ps. Meanwhile I checked out Getz-Gilberto 24-96 and 24-192 HDTracks (Rutracker). The 96 has a general lack of detail. The 192 has a strange thickness (bass heaviness) to vocals. My (personal as usual) opinion - after some more time - the 2002 Verve remix is too heavily equalised for my ears' comfort. The Analogue Productions wins. Again (it's almost boring ). Have a nice Sunday everybody!

The original master tapes for this title (CVRJ 8545 SA) had not been used since 1980 previous to this reissue. Also, for this Analogue Productions reissue the decision was made to master and present this album as it was originally mixed to master tape. With very few exceptions all versions of this title to date, including the original, have had the channels incorrectly reversed. With this version, you'll hear this title as it was intended to be heard, without the channels reversed.
