Sorry for the English, but my Russian is practically non-existent, so use Google Translate if you don't speak English. I know I know, poshli bezgramatnovo Amerikantsa i evo Angliyskiy k odnoi materi i prodolzhai chitat moi review posle Googleskovo perevoda:
It's not her lips that you hear on track 2, but her saliva popping as she moves her lips. This is due to the very high amount of treble on this track. Whoever mastered it did not do proper de-essing, so the sibilance level is very high and unless you have a dark system, the track will sound pretty bright. This may not be a bad thing, depending on your taste, but I find it very exaggerated in the treble department (Sennheiser HD-650 with a very high-end DAC and Headphone Amp).
Now track #1 on the other hand is very revealing if you have a high-end system and needed no correction (perfect volume level, no DC offset and 81+ dB of dynamic range with music all the way down to -60 dBFS - what a quality CD track should "measure!").
Track #3 did nothing for me and also needs some de-essing.
Now track #4 had proper de-essing resulting in excellent vocals, very good piano (attack) and bass with wonderful mixing of the whole thing. If I only spoke Mandarin Chinese and could appreciate the lyrics...
The intro to track #5 can put any high-end audio system to the test (piano)
. If you can hear the individual notes well throughout this tune, you've got a high end system, period.
Track #6, wtf? What language is he singing in? Was it Russian, Chinese, beats me! Were those even words or just sounds?
Track #7, wow that's one hell of a quality cello recording with excellent miking and a very competent musician. 10/10, audiophile quality, will test your system for sure! I gave it a 0.75 dB boost, because it was a bit too quiet overall and a 0.75 dB boost will not result in any clipping, even during peaks, because the peak amplitudes are at about -1.00 dbFS. True audible dynamic range goes all the way down to -75 dbFS, the best I've seen to date on any 16-bit recording. The actual range is close to the CD limit. If any track was a candidate for 24-bits, this would be it!
Track #8, too much Chinese and too much treble. Man, Chinese needs proper de-essing.
Track #9, pretty good in the violin department maybe 8-9/10 for sound quality, 10/10 for violin competence. I gave it a half-decibel boost for good measure (keeping the peaks below clipping as always).
Track #10, not much dynamic range (maybe down to -35 dbFS or so), but what a great song with high energy and the volume was perfect! 10/10 overall - a breath of fresh air on this CD, it got my juices flowing. I call this genre "Chinese Black House", but it's actually characterized as Chinese Folk. More like Chinese Homeboys do house. If you want to hear more of this:
http://www.abcrecord.com/en/pro.asp?id=78 "It's all in the music!"
Track #11, a very good song and it boosted my ego (listen to the lyrics).
Track #12, not too great and the singer could use some fiber to help with his constipation. Speaking of constipation, as I was listening to this track, I felt like I entered an "All You Can Eat" Chinese restaurant and ate too much, the resulting curses from the owner are this song - you eat too much meat, eat more vegetable.
Well that about sums this disc up...
