The music genre of Words of Wisdom is more World Music style with heavy roots reggae and dub influences. Some of the tracks, like “Today” or “Never Give Up” brings to mind Jamaican DubPoetry Superstar, Mutabaruka. Other songs like “Protect Yourself” is straight Marleyesque reggae, with a strong message about the dangers of unprotected sex. All in all, this is a very wonderful, meaningful, collection of songs and is heartily recommended for anyone who wants to listen to deep, spiritual, soulful words accompanied by vibrant, hypnotic and very appealing old-school as well as modern music styles.
