14 whole years after their last release with Massacre Records, Soul Cages return with their 4th and long-awaited (at least by their devoted fans) album, entitled ''Moon''
Their art-rock character has remained intact, the clean guitars interchange with the melodic distorted progressive metal riffs and the quirky male and female vocals. The Rush influence is possibly more prominent compared to other releases, but only at selected moments. The self-production has not taken anything away from the personal sound of the band, that balances artfully between dark and emotional. The two vocalists, expressive as ever, are again winning the game for the band, unlocking every emotion from the cages of their soul.
Fans can be rest assured that ''Moon'' is at the same level as the legendary 90's albums and newcomers will find all the elements here that make Soul Cages stand out from the crowd. For artsy-minded fans of progressive metal. Definitely within my top-10 of 2013, this is worth easily 4 stars.
