How wonderful!
I have it on CD. The album is wonderful, and the only criticism I have of the CD, which is original, is that the volume is very low. I'm going to listen to this rip and let you know later. Thanks for sharing! ((((hugs))))
Thanks for thanks! On this rip the volume is near to zero.
You must know, as a non-headphone listener, I usually always have volume reserves in my amp and very rarely turn the volume up above 10 o'clock. So, I don't really care about volume.
But luckily for headphone listeners, the vinyl mastering of this album is pretty loud.
Very interesting what you say about headphones. In my case, I don't have headphones, and this is my setup and its routing: Hifi Rose RS250A, which I use as a DAC with a display, and I connect a 6-terabyte Western Digital external USB hard drive (I never connect it to the internet). From there, everything goes to my PrimaLuna EVO 300 Hybrid amplifier, and I've installed Brimar CV4003 tubes in the preamp, and finally, my speakers are Wharfedale Elysian 4s. Your ripping work sounds fantastic! I haven't heard the Shostakovich stuff yet.
Great chain. The volume of this CD must really be awfully low if you wish to have more through a 140 W amp and 92 db speakers. I understood recently why some people complain about my rips with low volume like -4,5 or - 5db.
They all are random listeners. They have tons of music on servers or drives and listen it in random manner. So, low volume tracks fall out of the mainstream.
Again, not a problem for me. I am an old fashioned "album" listener.
That's right! The original CD's volume is very low, and I have to set the PrimaLuna's volume to just over 40% of its full capacity, which I don't like because I'm putting pressure on the preamp tubes. As soon as I hear your rip, I'll give you feedback. I listened to the entire album, and it doesn't have the volume problem that my original CD had; that is, the recording is low, but your rip is quite good. The audio quality is very, very good! I have to say, though, that there are crackles and artifacts in the audio, typical of well-used vinyl records. The rest is excellent! Thank you, so much! (((((hugs from Buenos Aires, Argentina)))

Not quite right.
It's not a very much used vinyl. In all these years I played this record maybe 10 times.
Not because of the music, it's great. But because of the vinyl mastering of this album which I'm not very fond of.
So, the crackles and artifacts come not from using. The pressing quality of this record ist not very good. Unfortunately, the "fair" pressing quality is rather a norm today.
And also you cannot get rid of the surface noise on a vinyl rip. Thanks for thanks and feedback.
