“I was 11 years old when my mother gave me the gift of a piano. I have played and played non-stop ever since. Everybody in my family is a musician and I grew up surrounded by music. Music has always been my mission and formal training in Music School helped me bring together the notes and pieces of melodies I had in my head to begin composing seriously. I have participated in many musical projects and have been extremely successful with a theme song for a Chilean TV series and as the composer of hundreds of jingles. Finally I decided to follow my real passion which led to my rebirth as Muza. Preserving the deep changes in my life, I down load the music from somewhere I really don t know how but it is for all of you.”
Muza grew up under the brutal dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet who essentially silenced musical expression for 17 years. During that time Chileans absorbed music from around the world. After Pinochet's departure, musicians returned to the music of their roots integrating those global influences. Muza was highly influenced by European Electronica. She added her Latin flavor and a melancholy mood reflective of growing up under Pinochet with the hope of a brighter future. Cambio de Estacion is a terrific example of this unique Electronica/Latin/Rock style Muza created.
For her third album, "Terciopelo," which means velvet in English, Muza dug deep into her roots discovering the classic Boleros and Bosa Novas of the late '50s and early 60's. She brilliantly covered timeless Latin classics with her unique contemporary style and wrote some original songs that beautifully matched their theme of lost love.
Muza was discovered by Petroglyph Records in 2004 who picked up her album "Cambio de Estacion" for international release. It won an Independent Music Award (IMA) for Best Dance/Electronica Album in 2006. Her next album with Petroglyph, "Terciopelo," won Muza a second IMA for Best Cover Song for her rendition of the classic "Besame Mucho."
After several successful trips touring Europe, Muza made her North American debut opening for Suzanne Vega and is now living in and touring the US based out of Taos, New Mexico.
Sol Aravena has written hundreds of commercial jingles and Muza’s music has been featured in film and TV to include a theme song to a popular Chilean TV show.
Muza can travel very easily and is willing to travel anywhere in the world to perform or record.
