Most of the music on this lp/cd was improvised on the spot at Max Bolleman's
famous studio in Monster, near The Hague. You might call it free jazz, but the you
can still hear the tradition. We hear some dark-voiced vocals by the leader,
extatic squeaks and grunts that seem to be coming from a prehistoric creature,
ominous bass notes and energetic drum rolls but also the most subtle sounds
these musicians are capable of producing.
Rinus and his men aren't much use to a mere writer. Their music doesn't need any
explanation. They make spontaneous, unpolished music, it cornea and it goes,
there are high and low points.
This music will also be a surprise for those, who took it for granted that tenorman
Rinus Groeneveld can play "just" the blues.
Here he and his fellows prove they can do more than that and "DARE TO BE
DIFFERENT". -from liner notes
