The history of Electro Swing is as short as spectacular. Towards the end of the last millennium first formations like Jurassic 5, Yello or Doop attracted attention with their interpretations of classic jazz and swing themes from the 20's till the 50's. Later individual remixes reached the clubs and radio stations with descriptions as Swing House, Neo-Charleston or Boogaloo-Breakbeat.
End of 2010, when Lola's World Records first edition of the compilation series "The Electro Swing Revolution" was released, nobody could foresee the tremendous success of this double CD. Vol. 3 again represents a topical high-quality compilation of the E-Swing. The DJs and editors Gülbahar Kültür (WDR Funkhaus Europa / Radio Bremen) and Johannes Heretsch (Radio Corax Halle / Berliner Fenster) have been successful again as pearl divers in the nearly infinite ocean of Electro Swing.
Now they present 35 brand new, including previously unreleased tracks of Electro-Swing artists from 14 countries.
CD1 "HOP, HOP, HOP", conceived by Gülbahar Kültür.
Up to now, the Bremen journalist and DJane has compiled more than 50 CDs for the worldwide distributed label Lola's World Records.
In this compilation the Austrian Electro Swing superstar Parov Stelar is to be emphasised with "Sally's Dance" (CD 1/track 4). The musical star Anna Maria Kaufmann presents a surprising inventive E-Swing title: "It's A Good Day" (CD 1/track 1). Worth listening are also the Vintage-Swing champions Bart & Baker from Paris with their "The Swing Phenomenon" (CD 1/track 2). On CD 1 "Hop, Hop, Hop" are many exciting new discoveries as the British formation Swing Zazou, they recorded their single track "Wideboy" exclusive for this CD in Revolution Mix. Early in 2012 Gülbahar Kültür founded together with her DJ colleague Alexander Jung the Electro Swing Cartel (CD 1/track 17 / "Tini Mini Lady" (Instrumental).
CD 2 "SWING WHAT YOU GOT", compiled by the Berlin DJ Globalution aka Johannes Heretsch.
He serves 18 Swing tunes of his choice on the second CD. DJ Globalution has worked again as remixer on several titles: "Allez Viens" (CD 2/track 1), Bart & Baker's version of Paolo Conte's classic "Via Con Me", together with Talented Mister and (CD 2/track 18): the propelling Balkan-Swing song "Balkan Betty" from Tommy Dollar originated in cooperation with the Berlin Balkan-Beat hero Robert Soko.
The amazing style width, demonstrated here, shows the variety of Electro Swing Revolution:
- Kojato, native of Liberia, a former companion of the Afrobeat father Fela Kuti, created with his potential hit "Like A Gypsy" probably the first Electro Afro Swing song.
- Swingrowers' Senza Ciatu from sunny Sicily makes it difficult, to keep our feet still and will certainly be an Electro-Swing megahit, because of the charming vocals of Loredana Grimaudo.
- "Peanut Vendor", the Mambo classic of Swing icon Anita O'Day, gets a remarkable renaissance after more than 60 years with the excellent remix by Club des Belugas - this time in the hip robe of Electro-Swing.
