Pinetop Perkins was a three time Grammy Award winner and the beloved dean of blues piano players when he passed away last year, just four months shy of his 98th birthday. It is unquestionably a little slice of heaven for us to hear Pinetop once again on this previously unreleased after-hours set of masterful music. Heaven captures a beautifully intimate 1986 studio performance by Pinetop when he was "only" seventy three, and still at the peak of his powers. He performs solo on all but four tracks. The self-taught master pianist is in magnificent form, delivering thundering chords and glissandos, rolled chords, trilled notes, complex metrical substitutions, sly musical quotes - and of course his trademark lightly swinging boogie woogie. His strong, rough-edged voice conveys an authority that is complemented by a subtle playfulness and vulnerability. On this album, his vocals are supplemented by recently-recorded contributions from Willie "Big Eyes" Smith on "Sitting On Top of the World" (believed to be Smith's last recording) and Otis Clay, who captures the sweet agony of "Since I Fell For You."Pinetop Perkins played piano until he was 97 years old, so this previously unreleased set featuring Perkins relaxed and nimble in both solo and small-combo studio sessions in 1986, when he was a young 73 years old, is really just a drop in the bucket of his long career (which began in 1969 when he replaced Otis Spann as Muddy Waters' piano player). But it is indeed a heavenly drop at that, since Perkins is so obviously comfortable here. Among the highlights are versions of "Sitting on Top of the World," with longtime friend Willie "Big Eyes" Smith on vocals, and "Since I Fell for You," featuring the soulful voice of Otis Clay.

Значит для вас музыка это просто забава, а не стиль жизни. Мне кажется ,что вас больше заботят дисскусии с разными безкультурными подхалимами, чем реально изумительный блюз.
Дружище, Kocegub, спасибо за Очень Великого P.Perkinsa, и за ссылку "Что такое iso.wv? Инструкция по эксплуатации" (по ряду причин) спасибо. Придётся, пересмотреть пару жизненных позиций, что бы слушать в машине правдивый звук. Интересно, есть ли автомобильные магнитоллы (кроме "Урала") читающие любимый lossless? Нет сведений или рекомендаций? Формат заслуживает, только тёплых слов.
