Dizz1 blends a fine Detroit clap with London dubstep and plenty other bass-injected street sounds. A beast behind the kit since he was eight years old, this drummer from down under has laid down tracks for future-soul experts/expats Steve Spacek and Mark Pritchard (aka Africa Hitech), pulled together heavy kicks and snares for his Trapdoor radio show, and taken his arsenal of synths and drum machines to festival stages all across Australia. In 2009, Dizz released his debut EP “3rd Time Lucky” in Kindred Spirits’ Nod Navigators series, collecting lauds from the UK’s holy trinity of 21st century beats science, Gilles Peterson, Mary Anne Hobbs and Benji B.

О релизе: Hotly tipped beatmaker Dizz1 presents a debut package of truly overweight boom-bap business! The '3rd Time lucky' EP sits in highly respectable company next to the likes of Dorian Concept and Aardvarck on the Nod Navigators imprint, building five tracks of stylish future-beats to give Mark Pritchard a close run for his money. Operating in a field overgrown with slouchy neck snappers, Dizz1 makes his mark with proper gangsta leaning slo-beats and an expressive attention to detail that quite easily brings his productions up to scratch next to the most recent Harmonic 313 album. 'Frazzled' works a slappy krunk beat with star-bursting synth stabs while the sparse bass bumps and 8-bit motifs of 'Somewhat?' recall a screwed Hudson Mohawke or Samiyam and 'Here We Go Again' lifts the snarling synthline excess of Dubtp rave and remoulds it for a smoky, neon-green hiphop vibe. Big name players like Benji B and Sa-Ra have been giving this EP a lot of respect of late and it's very easy to hear why. Highly Recommended!

О релизе: Head-nod navigator Dizz1 and D&B producer Royalston meet in the middle for two broken, rolling and stepping variations for Black Acre. Together they tuck-up some Techy vibes on 'Decay', kinda like older Martyn styles, with detailed drumwork and shifty bass, but a moodier, heads-down vibe. Flipside it's Dizz1 dolo on 'Gone Soon', a blue sci-fi stepper with well studied old-skool Mala vibes.
