Lisa Otey is a jazz, blues & boogie woogie piano player/singer from Tucson, Arizona. She has won numerous awards, including Entertainer of the Year, Best Local Performing Artist, and Musician of the Year, and has been inducted into the Tucson Music Hall of Fame and the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame. Lisa has her own record label and production company, Owl’s Nest Productions, which showcases musicians from Tucson as well as national and international artists.
Lisa tours the US and Europe as a solo, with her Desert Divas, and with jazz/blues singer, Diane Van Deurzen. She also collaborates frequently with Dutch musician Harm van Sleen and blues singers Candye Kane and Johnny Rawls. Lisa loves to be an emergency substitute and is frequently called to step in for concerts and theatrical productions. Lisa appeared on Pinetop Perkins’ Grammy-nominated CD, “Ladies Man”, after his hand was injured in an accident with a train. She also acts as music director and pianist for local, regional and national theatre productions, teaches music for K-12 at Kino School in Tucson, and presents workshops at schools around the world.
Lisa produces a season of concerts in Tucson, including the Lisa Otey & Friends and Piano Night series at the historic Z Mansion; the Boogie Woogie Blowout, a festival which features 4 internationally known boogie woogie piano players; Lisa Otey and the Desert Divas, a group of six jazz, blues, r&b, and soul singers; Hot Love for Valentines, a delicious and decadent cabaret which tickles all your fancies; and Jazz Meets Blues, a magical meeting of jazz and blues musicians.
Whether Lisa performs for 50 or 50,000, audience members feel like she has invited them into her living room. She embraces them with her sultry voice and thrills them with her two-fisted piano style. “Otey can take her voice from crème brûlée to habanero salsa one minute to the next, and whichever flavor you catch, she serves up a musical meal you won't forget.” - Tucson Home
