The project Saltvind was founded in the autumn 2006 under the influence of Mortiis, Lord Wind and the soundtracks by the composer Basil Poleduoris. At the beginning of Saltvind's creative development its music presented short sketches and was in whole chaotic, constant experiments were performed on the sound and all the material was intended only for personal use. At the moment of transformation into an “open project” with the following designing of logo and name, the general concept of the project was formed. The music by Saltvind is attempting to bring to the listener the spirit of the North, its secrets, its strength and beauty; to turn into music the echo of ancient battles; it gives the listener an opportunity to fly over majestic landscapes, mountains, fiords, endless seas, fanned by salty wind, coastal plains and snow-covered fortresses. This music is not based on real historical events, it is the reflection of reality, the projection of sensations, fantasies and dreams, it is another side of perception, which is often inverse and full of sombre images. In 2007 the project begins to work with the label Front Line Prod., and several month later its first demo "Saltvind" containing two tracks appeared. At the beginning of 2008 Saltvind cooperates with the Austrian formation Uruk-Hai, releasing the split “A Dark Force Shines Golden/Dreams Of The Ancient Stone”. In 2009 Saltvind prepares the release of some promo-material, consisting of the earlier experimental tracks. Re-release of their previous works is planned on Polish label Werewolf Promotion.
