Instructions for Mac:
1. Get your MAC address for your ethernet adapter under system preferences then network. should be some advanced settings there for your ethernet adapter and click on the different tabs til it shows your mac address.
2. Go to your windows machine and edit the "aw.dat" with wordpad or notepad and erase "your_host" and put in your MAC address of your ethernet adapter (not sure if it is case sensitive so just leave your letters lowercase)
3. Save it and put "aw.dat" on a flash drive.
4. Now the directory /var/flexlm is hidden under OSX so you can use this program to mac it visible

5. once downloaded, run it and a box should pop up and say invisible or visible, click visible.
6. Now go to your osx harddrive and you should see a bunch more files and you should be able to find "var" now and in var is flexlm. Open flexlm and copy your modified "aw.dat" from your flash drive into /var/flexlm
7. Open the invisible program back up and click invisible so you dont see all those invisible files again
8. Open up Maya now and you shouldn't get a prompt for license and it Maya 2008 should be fully unlocked!
