Why opt for wsl when you can try USB driver instead?
Just don't install the game on the NTFS file system.
Cut 30 GB from the disk. And using the Linux on the flash drive, format it to ext4.
This would be your /home/user_name for game and saves.
Which Linux distro is best to choose?
Generally ANY ANY ANY ANY ANY distro))
For a USB driver, use the From_RAM distro.
Now, almost all new games run on Linux.
Nope! Now, all new games run on Linux, even those without a native Linux version.
Thanks steam and its Proton.
Install whatever your heart desires.

There's no better place to choose what suits you! For usb you can even choose a modular Porteus. Need drivers for Nvidia - all is available)
MX Linux is also not bad for usb-driver and Kali is simply designed for one.
Of course there are special gaming distros: PikaOS Linux, Regata OS, Nobara, Bazzite...
That's not half of it. Many general purpose distos have gaming Edition. For CachyOS this is
Handheld Edition with gamemode, steam and more...
VERY IMPORTANT FOR EVERYONE:
When you have installed Linux and drivers, if needed, your next step is to
install:
1)
steam (it will install additional libs for video, nvidia and vulkan),
2)
Lutris and wine. They will install many necessary little things too.
It's a mistake to think that KDE is similar to Windows. The Gnome graphical shell has more similarities)) Especially from the inside. Just like Winda it slaps your hands when you want to change something(( Customizations in KDE are amazing. For example, I like running games in a window without frame. Welcome! Everything works out of the box. I still don't know why option VSync is needed in settings.
Actually I don't know why game-distro and distro for work with graphics (the same Ubuntu Studio) but all of them choose
KDE Plasma! Do you want to play or watch a movie?
There is one note. Unix systems have a protocol for display server.
Wayland is latest and modern.
Fedora, openSUSE distos enable it by default. Like Mint and its Cinnamon this option goes as experimental.
Always choose Wayland! In the window where you enter your password there is an option to select Desktop Environments and a protocols.
Ubuntu is good for schools and corporations. But...((( Canonical and Mark Shuttleworth personally wants to create another MacOS and they aren't friends with Wayland/KDE((
If you want Ubuntu, better install Mint Linux, Kubuntu and similar.
Then why Ubuntu is specified in the requirements and not another? IMHO, someone should be subject to US law :)) People give their hard-earned money for games. And you can't refer to fundamental principle of Linux "Without Guarantees"))
P.S. Lutris is well suited for launching games as it has a log function if something goes wrong
P.S. Optional. Choose English as the system language and your native language as the second one.
......It doesn't affect performance in any way, it's just a way to play all the games of the world))
