Recently, out of the blue I received a call from Howard Givens telling me he was sending a “surprise” 2020 remaster of The Dream Circle.
While the original master sounds fine, advancements in the mastering tools over the years and the experience on how to apply these tool to this music are the ongoing impetus in taking certain releases to a new level of revealing the magic with in. Howard took upon himself to do this on his own, that’s what I would classify as pure dedication and passion to the love presenting the most impactful sound experience we can ask for right now.

There are so many significant works by Steve Roach, many which are inspiring, influential, and landmark releases that have impacted the lives of deep-listening fans and artistic souls throughout the last 40 years, but, within that legacy of appreciable catalog, there are a few very special titles that reach beyond all description. The Dream Circle is one of those of such special, rarified distinction. It is one that captures all that can be said through music; that converses simultaneously with the inner self and the universe expanse through such a powerful language that it need not be translated. This is a work that has inspired me throughout the years, in my endless pursuit of the ultimate depth of dimensional music, or as a sound-space connection in yoga and meditation. Inspired by a love for Steve's sacred piece, I endeavored to discover even more subtlety and detail by applying the mastering tools perfected over the years of working specifically within this style of music, hoping to unearth even more of this work’s hidden beauty and essence. I can only hope to have taken another step into the pure radiance of such magnificence.

The Dream Circle was first experienced as an atmosphere playing before and after Steve's concerts in the early 90's. Over the course of a few years and steady requests a LTD edition Digipack was released by Steve before the creation of the Timeroom Editions. It would later be released in a second edition on this label and continues to be a favorite long form space created for infinite playback.
Steve's two trips to Australia's outback created a major shift in the artists life and creative direction. While Dreamtime Return mapped out this paradigm shift in a significant way, The Dream Circle
has a direct connection to this era as well and expresses "A sense of putting your ear down to the ground and listening in these remote, overpowering places that seem to hold an imprint of times passage and those who were there before" as Steve has stated. While the breathing current is central to this 74 min habitat atmosphere an organic wonderworld of altered rainforest sounds and other hand shaped textures add to the subtle enchantment this piece holds.
