Если можете, то зачем лезть в словарь? 
Конечно, когда-то давно (когда начинал читать на английском) я лазил в словарь постоянно.
Но, постепенно, все меньше и меньше ...
А книги, которые я читаю, одного жанра.
И теперь при моем читальном стаже (20+), особой необходимости в словаре я не вижу. 
Вот, если бы какая-нибудь специальная литература, то да ... Возможно, правда, что я её уже и по-русски не пойму.

а. иногда промахиваюсь (большая часть незнакомых слов - которые уже попадались, но я не потратил времени, чтобы заучить их)
б. есть ощущение, что так слова лучше запомнятся
Хотя по-хорошему надо возобновлять работу с лексикой, прицельно ее я никогда не вел, а последнее время еще и сознательно (типа я книгу читаю, а не английский учу).
