To say the truth, I don't see much of a resemblance between SGS games and Decisive Campaigns series. IMHO, SGS games are more similar to the old AGEOD stuff or to the games made by the developer called Headquarter (Battle for Spain, Libertad o Muerte). Anyway, I like them a lot, especially the latest titles (NATO's Nightmare, Fall Weiss, Korean War). The older ones, like Winter War or Afrika Korps, were pretty shallow but the new ones are much more refined. Solid games in my opinion.

Can someone point me to a link for an old book? "Fading Victory", which is the diary of Admiral Matome Ugaki? Library Genesis doesn't have it. Thank you!

I like SGS for their take on lesser known conflicts: Korean War, WWI German East Africa, and the Taiping Rebellion. However I think the games relied too heavily on cards to recreate history. The player is not presented with the problems faced by historical commanders. For me it may feel historical but is not realistic at all. I guess it is a problem with all card driven wargames: they are artificially flavored with history.

There are 2 pdf versions at Anna's archive.

We have the board game here and are currently trying to import the results of the battles into the MG sim. I have a vague memory that with DRv10503 some files are missing compared to 12308, but I might be wrong, because apparently you can also patch this thing up..

patching the way you described is working. some graphics seemed to be glitched, but that was a missing 32bit-visual-C library on 64 OS
