The boogie-woogie pianist Ian Stewart (1938-1985) was a founder member of the Rolling Stones, the first to answer Brian Jones' advert
for members to form a band. Andrew Loog Oldham felt that Stewart, known as "Stu", did not fit the image of the band and relegated him
to roadie but Stewart played piano on almost all Stones albums from 1963 to 1986. He was also a member of the band Rocket 88.
Ben Waters succeeded 'Stu' as pianist in Rocket 88, and decided in 2010 to record a tribute album to his friend and mentor.
Initially conceived as a solo project, first Charlie Watts, and other members of Rocket 88 and the other Stones were involved and
Jools Holland made his studio available for the 11 song recording and also played. Keith Richards overdubbed guitar on two tracks,
Mick Jagger overdubbed vocals and harmonica on one ("Watching The River Flow"), Bill Wyman played bass on three and Ron Wood on two.
Charlie Watts drummed on six of the CD's 11 songs. P J Harvey, Ben's cousin, sings and plays sax on one, too.
