Disk1 - Jazz Vanguards
On your knees! This first semester of Jazz U recognizes some of the greatest players and pioneers in jazz guitar history. We include not only lessons about them, but also lessons written by these jazz giants. Unless you’ve got a time machine parked in your garage, you’re not going to find yourself any closer to many of these vanguards.

Disk2 - Standards & Chord Melodies
Let's re-discover the heart of jazz guitar with a few classic tunes and techniques you’ll perform au naturel—no band, just you and that big box. First we go soup-to-nuts on the elusive art of chord melodies. Once you’re a solo-guitar virtuoso, you’ll be ready to build your repertoire of classic jazz standards. Next time someone calls for a Duke or Trane tune, you’ll be ready to deliver.
Disk3 - Modern Jazzers
The evolution of jazz has given way to some remarkable contemporary players. This semester focuses on some of the newer cats and their innovative approach to harmonics and melodic pathways. Turns out you really don’t need a Super 400 and flat-wound strings to get cred amongst the jazz set. Stern (a couple of them), Carlton, Coryell, Hunter and a few others will show you the way.

Disk4 - Genre Benders
It’s a great big delicious gumbo, this jazz thing. Mix in a few spicy ingredients from other styles and cultural influences from around the world and you've got a tasty feast of musical bliss. This semester pays special attention to the intersections of jazz with rock, blues, country, rockabilly, and several exotic styles from other parts of the planet. Come on down, put your napkin in your lap and dig in.

Disk5 - Comp Time
When it comes to jazz combos, laying down rhythms and harmonies can be the difference between “ho hum” and “holy mother of Satchmo!” While there’s always more glamour in the solo spotlight, comping is the bread and butter of jazz guitar. It's also the key to getting invited back to the jam sessions. Time to learn how to play nice with others.

Disk6 - Rythms & Leads Vol:1
The volume of Rhythm's and Leads is a great catch-all for anyone wanting to "jazz" up their chops, performances and compositions. Whether you choose to wade in slowly or jump headlong into the deep end, this curriculum will keep you well and afloat in jazz’s warm waters. Well-rounded and thorough, this semester is taught by some of our top professors of jazz and will seriously color up your musical personality.

Disk7 - Rythms & Leads Vol:2
Let's get serious here. If you’ve nailed the techniques and ideas in Vol. 1, then it's time to step up and jam with the upper classmen. This semester examines more advanced concepts in the essential art of comping and then settles in with some serious pick work and improv techniques.

Disk8 - Blowin'
Time to spread your wings, grasshopper. Here’s where the roof comes down. This graduating semester is all about applying your newly developed way of thinking to riffs, licks, lines and leads. A mondo collection of dizzying, soaring, growling lines - these lessons will put you over the top. Master these tricks and watch the jaws drop.
