The Hamburg band Staring Girl released their third album "Schräg Fällt Das Licht", which is a mixture of German indie pop and Americana. The formation has already played concerts with artists like Gisbert zu Knyphausen, Erdmöbel, Fortuna Ehrenfeld and Dota. Released as LP on KOMBÜSE Schallerzeugnisse.
The new release from the band, which has been in existence since 2005, comprises 13 songs on which Steffen Nibbe's acoustic guitar in particular stands out, reinforced by Frenzy Suhr's complex bass runs, atmospheric drumming, piano and organ sounds, and lots of electric guitars.
A lot has happened since their last album "In Einem Bild" (2018) and the "EP" released the following year: Lennart Wohlt has joined the band as a new drummer and corona-related it came to a new way of working. Thus, in the summer of 2020, basic ideas emerged from Nibbe's song fragments in the drummer's small garden house, which were later developed into final songs with the entire band. Schräg Fällt Das Licht" was recorded at WattnSound and Kornboden Studio.
The main producer was guitarist and keyboardist Gunnar Ennen, who added additional details in the studio, such as marimba and vibrafone, and engaged a whole string quartet for two tracks.
