Об альбоме (сборнике):
Enter the arid world of the Judean and Negev deserts, of the scorching Jordan Valley, land of Bedouins, camel-led caravans, "Palmach" marauders. Take classic folk songs from Israel
and play them in a contemporary, sleek jazz-pop production and you have "Fata Morgana". Every tune here is Israeli tradition and has been sung around campfires countless times by
Palmach "desert rats" during Israel's path to independance and by teens on field trips and campouts. These songs would be sung a capella or, if available, accompanied by a
shepheard's recorder, acoustic guitar and a darbuka hand-held drum. But here it's remarkeably different: "LaMidbar Sa'enu (Into The Desert, Carry Us)" opens with haunting
a-capella choruses and minimal percussion suggesting the camels' stroll. The mood changes into a jazz-funk "Shayeret haRochvim (Rider's Caravan)";
"Me'Ever la'Nahar (Across The River)", with heavy guitars and slow heavy rhythm evokes the slow, laboring caravan marching through the searing heat of an unforgiving desert,
the cadence of the camel's stride, guitar solos searing as the midday desert sun over distant plaintive voices that are drowned out by desert winds.
Finally, "Lipa The Carriage driver" or Coachman, folk favorite, breaks down the winds of rapid change with a simple message of good sense - relax, take it all in a slow pace..
