In celebration of 30 years of "The Black Album", welcome the definitive re-release: Metallica (Remastered). Metallica is the fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica. Released on August 12, 1991, by Elektra Records, it is commonly referred to as The Black Album because of its packaging design. Its recording took place at One on One Studios in Los Angeles over an eight-month span that frequently found Metallica at odds with their new producer Bob Rock. The album marked a change in the band's music from the thrash metal style of their previous four albums to a slower, heavier, and more refined sound. Metallica promoted Metallica with a series of tours. The black album was mixed at 44.1 kHz, which is why no true high res version exists. The only way you could get higher than 44.1 kHz is if the album was remixed from scratch.
DR нормальный. При сравнении с оригиналом понятно, что вокал, соло гитару и барабаны изменения мало затронули. Зато добавили жирку ритм гитаре и низким частотам, за счёт чего звучание стало сочнее. Лично по мне в оригинале звук при всей своей точности был резким.

Рекомендую ознакомиться с Holland Vertigo # 510 022-1 (1991), ничего вышеописанного там не замечено
Альбом на виниле предпочитаю Simply Vinyl - SVLP 207. Хотя считаю что Metallica на винилах при всех плюсах звучит излишне мягко.
И все таки выше в комментариях мысли о цифровых релизах.

Вы вкурсе что DR это динамический диапазон и он не прямо влияет на качество, вчера спецом сравнивал релизы этого альбома и ремастер 2021, новый ремастер звучит сбалансированней всего, слушаю на студ мониках A7X
У винила вообще не высчитывается DR в привычном его понимании, т.к. на оцифровке можно что угодно сделать.

Согласен в обоих случаях, но при ровной оцифровке будет перенесён тот же диапазон, который можно измерить. Если издания 1991 имели более высокий DR, то значит, что произвели компрессию, которая может быть слышна

Компрессию производят на всех этапах сведения и мастеринга. Бывает, что и на этапе записи. На отдельных инструментах, на шинах (например, барабаны), на общей шине. Компрессия - только один из многих способов изменить динамический диапазон. И чаще это применяется не для сужения динамики, а изменения характера звука - сделать более резким, более длинным, склеить звуки в пачку и т.д. Оценивать качество звучания по динамическому диапазону - глупость, тем более в музыке, где сплошные перегруженные гитары. Такие гитары выглядит, как ровная колбаска. Динамики в них почти нет.

А если я после DR7-8 послушал DR15 и просто разительно изменилось восприятие музыки в лучшую сторону? Причём не раз, а постоянно. Разве это случайность, а не закономерность? А компрессия, в конкретном случае это тот самый перегруз или излишняя выпяченость частот, которые я отчётливо слышу, из-за того, что сейчас её использую для повышения громкости.
