A Winter Journey is a response to, or reflection upon, the narrative in Schubert's song cycle Winterreise. A man walks out into the winter night and we slowly gain glimpses into the reasons, his state of mind, and the hazardous scene that surrounds him.
The album seeks to show a degree of solipsism by employing a full big band to accompany the gentleman as he wonders out into that good night to confront his issues, only to discover that the winter night is cold and unforgiving. It is a brief window onto loneliness and self-destruction via the medium of a fusion of Jazz, Classical and Rock music.
