About
Igor Prado fell in love with the guitar when he was 11 years old. Self-taught and left-handed, Igor learned to play the guitar upside down and backwards (with the thinnest string on top) and once he discovered the blues, he took on the most challenging undertaking – to study and play the blues in Brazil. Currently, he plays in the “Prado Blues Band”, which is a group dedicated to Blues / West Coast Swing / Jump Rhythm & Blues. The band has released 3 CD’s in Brazil and distributed in the United States under the label Pacific Blues Records in which became one of the leading albuns among all blues artists.
During his solo career Igor released his first solo album called "Upsidedown" with special guests like R.J Mischo, Steve Guyger, Greg Wilson, Ron Dziubla (Sax player of Lynwood Slim, Kid Ramos), J.J Jackson and others. It was named after his lefty, upsidedown playing techniques and also because of the fact that he is a ‘south american playing blues’.
Igor and his band has also played in many tours with different international artists such as Eddie C. Campbell, Steve Guyger, James Wheeler, Phil Guy, Bob Stroger, Mud Morganfield (the oldest son of muddy waters), R.J Mischo, Mark Hummel, Lynwood Slim, Gary Smith, Mitch Kashmar, Rick Estrin (Little Charlie & The Nightcats) and Kim Wilson & Billy Flynn (2011).
Real Blues Magazine placed Igor’s album ‘UpsideDown’ under the top ten Blues CD’s chart of 2007. He has received many nominations and compliments of several magazines such as Blues Revue (US), Southland Blues (US), Blues Matters (England), Blues Wax (US), Twoj Blues (Poland), Juke Blues (UK) etc.
