GO FEET! Radio #031 Roger Steffens Interview (1of3)
May 18, 2009 by Nate Ness Monster
1. He´s A Rastaman (Cedella Booker & The Wailers)
2. Slave Drive – 1973 Catch A Fire (Jamaican Version)

6. Lively Up Yourself – The Wailers line-up includes Bob, Peter, Bunny, the Barrett brothers, and Tyrone Downie on keyboards. One of the last concerts as the Wailers, with the original Wailers. This is the concert after the famous show at Carib where the wailers opened for Marvin Gaye. One of only two songs that remain from that concert. Speed changes a bit. Damaged reels?

8. Natty Dread – Natty Dread 1974
9. Revolution – Natty Dread 1974
10. Nice Time – The Wailers reunion Show. “Wonder-Dream” concert including Stevie Wonder –1975 National Stadium, Kingston Jamaica

15. So Jah Say – 1976 Live at Smile Jamaica concert
16. I’m Ready – 1976 Yvette’s Bedroom Tape
17. Easy Skanking – 1976 Yvette’s Bedroom Tape
18. Jamming – 1976 Yvette’s Bedroom Tape
Recorded in one of Bob’s girlfriend’s houses this tape includes many songs that Bob never released and some that would become some of his most famous classics.
FYI: Yvette Crichton is the last woman with whom Bob is officially recognized as fathering a child. Out of their union was born Makeda Jahnesta Marley in 1981. By 1992, Makeda was a regular at Rita’s house and later became a beneficiary of the Marley estate, Bob on this tape also composes some of Jammin as well as a very early rendition of Easy Skanking.

I’m enjoying hearing these interviews, mixed with so much important unheard music, done several months ago. Allan did a great job with probing questions. I have a couple of emendations to some things written in the explanatory sections of the three shows’ notes. The announcer at the Roxy ’76 concert was the “tour” manager at the time, Tony G.
Yvet’s tape was most likely recorded in late ’76 in the first of two houses that Bob provided for his mother in Miami, not – according to her – in her own home.
Nice job, bredren!
