Об исполнителе (англ)
From record label:
"Jiri Plocek is a musician who has shown an exceptional relation to the folklore music of Moravia and its regularities in his past projects, whether as a performer or producer, including his own Teagrass band. Now Jiri Plocek is coming with a new project, for which he has invited signer and violin player Jitka Suranska. At concerts Plocek and Suranska perform as a duo, sometimes under the name Hudecka uderka or Music Agitprop Group. His guests include Plocek's long-standing friends from various walks of musical and publishing life - the legendary radio presenter and folklorist Jaromir Necas, Irish pipes and banjo player Lubos Malina, double bass player Petr Sury, and singer, keyboarder and drummer Roman Dostal. The record comes in a nice paper digipack.
Traditional songs are one of the greatest assets of Moravia. And particularly the ancient ones, which can be found in old song collections - these are among the most valuable jewels of musical culture ever. They take us back to the distant times, absorbing imprints of human fates, historic events, migrations of nations from the West and the East (as far as Asia). Moravia was a unique European melting pot for various influences and the songs mirror these events. The record is a small harvest of these precious music miniatures. Jiri Plocek has partly summarized his vital encounters with songs and people and tried to convey them in musical way using his simple musical language expressions - from traditional string (fiddle) music to mandolin and guitar, through which he takes old melodies to present times. While the archaic melody of the ballad Putovali hudci or Wandering Musicians may quite naturally evoke an almost "Albanian" musical meditation with black elder clarinet, some other melodies like Nechod k nam synecku (Do not Come To Us Son) may inspire a more energetic expression - so why not take an almost simple acoustic beat? - Apart from the songs, the record contains instrumental pieces - a small tour of the ancient Moravian musicians outside their motherland, such as to Romania."
