This is a double CD collection of studio recordings from 1962 to Luke’s untimely death in 1984, covering the original releases of the songs that became synonymous with Luke. In addition the collection will include the rare recording of Ray Davies song ‘Thank You For The Days’.

But it's the voice the drags you in (nothing as subtle as 'draws' or 'pulls'!) and makes you listen to the songs of Ireland and the Irish in the most passionate way.

I've been listening to the Dubliners for 15 years yet there are many wonderful songs here that are new to me. The band is terrific, but these 40 songs are pure Luke Kelly, and he is without peer. I think he really set himself apart by being able to reveal the poignancy of up-tempo numbers along with the sad ballads. There's a lot here that is genuinely transformative. My background is not Irish, (Greek actually), but there is something big here that overarches cultures, languages, and oceans. Wallace Stevens had a poem with the line, "Speak to the innermost ear of the mind/ exactly, that which it wants to hear," and this music thrills me with that very sensation– as though recalling the sweet notes and luminous sadness of all those voices, never recorded, that have carried our longings over the hills through the centuries.
