Trust me, you are lucky. The USSR was a closed country in which people did not need to know other languages and other cultures to exist in society. Plus, the country's leadership did not seek to let people broaden their horizons, learning the culture of other countries and their current works of the mass media. Films and books were adapted for the inhabitants of the USSR. Now that the USSR has ceased to exist, people have received terrible dubbing of films and very quick translations of films. What people often don't realize is that in the original story, the characters speak with accents, different intonation, different jokes, and sometimes with a different meaning. Of course, there are good voiceovers of films, sometimes there are masterpieces, but mostly terrible or mediocre translations and voiceovers.
So, I regret that you do not have the opportunity to experience your favorite movies in your own language. But, believe me, you don't lose much by watching movies with subtitles. It's better to have subtitles and original audio than bad voice acting.

If you mean by "broaden horizons" to be a dumb consumer, that's true. In USSR ordinary people had free access to learn foreign languages and cultures.

To me it would be very weird hearing Steed and Emma Peel talk Dutch.
In Germany there always has been voiceacting. Once the actor that did the voice of John Wayne wanted a significant raise in salary. He didn't get it, so he stopped. Then people from all over the country complained that John Wayne movies had a different voice. They didn't go to the cinema anymore. So the actor did het his raise and people went to the cinema again...

Хороший вопрос. Могу назвать три причины.
Первая, она же главная: я не люблю, когда субтитры встроены в видео. 
Вторая: субтитры были для глухих, поэтому смотреть с ними было трудно, когда подписан каждый дзынь-стук-грюк-хмык-шмяк-бряк.
Третья: в субтитрах есть ошибки, которые по возможности исправляются.

I don't care much about a few lesser episodes. The rips are great and it is/was a feast rewatching episodes I partially remember from my youngest years.
Still some I never watched because I disliked the older rips. Don't want to spoil quality movies and series on poor image quality.
Yep, Room Without a View is a very poor episode. Not even funny in it's limitations. Ridiculous ending too.
But there's plenty of quality in the series. So far The Hour That Never Was is my favourite. Remember I was electrified as a kid by it.

My top 4: Town of No Return, Death at Bargain Prices, Murder Market, Quick-Quick Slow Death.
But 'Town of No Return' is above the rest. Maybe because it was shot twice.

Yep, The Town is a great episode, my number two. The hour that never was is top here, simply because it spooked me as a kid.
Why was Town Of No Return shot twice? Must have been quite expensive.

"The Town" was filmed first with Elizabeth Shepherd as Emma. Then in the middle of "Murder Market" it turned out that she's not good enough. So she was replaced by Diana who won the tests. "Town" was refilmed. Brian Clemens: "She’s not a bad actress, but she just doesn’t have a sense of humour at all and it was essential in The Avengers... Linda Thorson had no sense of humour either." Clemens wanted to get rid of Linda but it was too expensive.

Very good: Gravediggers, Cybernauts, Castle, Master Minds, Surfeit H2O, Man-Eater, Christmas Trees, Small Game, House That Jack.
Good: Silent Dust, Danger Makers, How Succeed in Murder, Honey For Prince.
Between poor and good: Dial Deadly Number.
Poor: Hour Never Was, 13th Hole, Touch Brimstone, What Butler, Sense History.
Bad: Two's Crowd, Room View, Girl Auntie.

hehehe... as many heads, as many opinions... sort of a Dutch proverb. The hour that never was is top for me, Dial a Deadly Number I didn't like much. But still as part of the old bw Avengers I like watching it. Which will be the same with The Girl from Auntie, an ep you don't like much.
That should be the next rip btw. When can we expect it? (hint hint blink blink)
And will you continue with ripping the next season after season 4?

Thanks again! Splendid rip, I say. The joy alone of hearing the opening tune to yet another episode is well worth it. And in spite of Emma being absent most of the time it isn't too bad of an ep.
