Poppy, psychedelic ambient with ethnical and new age touches, could that be something for you? If so, please continue reading.
ENOIC is a band from Russia. The members have been involved in the Russian electronic scene for quite a while, though playing heavier music in diverse EBM bands.
EONIC’s sound is though very soft and sweet. Darker ambient undercurrents are mixed with sometimes nice, sometimes cheesy electronic beats. Flutes are also a prominent ingredient. The mix is quite original but sometimes it brings bands like ENIGMA to mind, which is a dangerous path to walk, but EONIC manages to stay interesting due to several unexpected twists and awfully nice dark ambient layers.
For me, this is music that sounds best on low volume, in the background while doing stuff that can take my focus of the music. It’s quite mediative and relaxing.
It’s especially nice when the third track, ”Rebma”, by the way a splendid dark ambient track with waves of aimless swirling sounds, moves over to ”Corridor of Mirrors”, which is another memorable track with that poppy beat and some really mysterious sound treatments and keyboard melodies.
Further in, things seems to be on repeat. After the sixth track, there ain’t much happening that we haven’t already heard but it’s still fine to hear.
I’ve caught myself listening to this album several times, which must have something to do with that it’s actually better than what I think it is when I’m NOT listening to it. That qualifies for a decent score, and I hope EONIC will some day return with a new offering.
