Excellent Malian percussiont Sidiki Camara goes back to Mali and takes us with him to rediscover its music traditions.
Living in Norway’s capital Oslo, Sidiki Camara hasn’t lessened his connection to the music of Mali and you can clearly hear it on his latest album, and in its title.
“Return to the Traditions” is meditative but vivid with rhythms, not only of Camara’s percussion, but also guitars and repetitive chants.
Two levels of Camara and his bands’ music – instrumental craftsmanship and emotional depth – together make it this record a fascinating listen, which still leaves your spirit tranquil.
