"Jacques Joseph Victor Higelin (born 18 October 1940 in Brou-sur-Chantereine, Seine-et-Marne, France) is a French pop singer who rose to prominence in the early 1970s. Early in his career, many of Higelin's songs were effectively blacklisted from French radio because of his controversial left wing political beliefs, and his association with socialist groups. He and his wife, Kuelan, are the parents of three children, including musician Arthur H and actor Ken Higelin.
Higelin's entertainment career began at age 14, when he left school to work as a stunt double. While playing a number of small roles in various motion pictures, Higelin was taught to play the guitar by Henri Crolla, an French-Italian jazz guitarist and film composer. By the early sixties, Higelin was attending the René Simon drama school, where he won the François Perier award.
For two years starting in 1961, Higelin served in the French military in various countries. Upon returning to France, he resumed his cinematic career, but increasingly began to focus on music over film. By the end of the decade, he was also very active in the artistic underground in Paris, and he began to channel his music towards radical militancy. He began attracting popular attention through his live concerts, typically held in smaller venues, and released his first solo album, in 1971. By the middle of the 1970s, Higelin had become one of France's most successful musicians, and he remains influential to this day. In 1995 Jaques participated in 'The Somebody Help Me Project' created by Laramy Smith a CD recording to aid homeless people worldwide. The CD featured performances by: Nina Hagen, Tore Kunda, Trio Esperança, Princess Erika, Spencer Davis, Amina, Sneaky Pete Kleinow, Annette Austin, and a 72 voices of members of 'The Genesis Choir' and 'The Reverend Martin Luther King Choir' recorded at studio 'Z', Sacramento, California. European performer's recorded at Ferber Studios, Paris France."

"Areski Belkacem (born January 23, 1940 in Versailles, France), is a composer, a multi-instrumental musician, actor and singer. He became friends with French regiment singer Jacques Higelin with whom he recorded an album in 1969 (his voice appears in the song 'Remember' which he composed). Areski Belkacem later met Brigitte Fontaine in the Sixties. In 1969, they assembled unit Niok, a mainly impromptu spectacle with the Theatre of Lucernaire, in Paris. He accompanied Brigitte Fontaine and Art Ensemble of Chicago in the performance of 'Comme à la radio' at Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier .
In 1970, he was the protagonist in the full-length feature film 'Ça va, ça vient' from Pierre Barouh. At the same time, he composed the music for director Peter Brook and also took part as an actor within the framework of the International Theatrical Research Center.
In the seventies, mixing theatre and songs, the pair of Areski-Fontaine had created many spectacles. However, the eighties for them were less productive, despite the creation of 'Act 2' in which he interpreted Brigitte Fontaine's text and also had a duet with her. The album 'French Corazon' and the mini-tube 'le nougat' in 1992 resurrected his reputation as a graceful musician. Since then, Areski Belkacem has become the principal composer for Brigitte Fontaine. He also collaborated with Barbara, Georges Moustaki and Sonic Youth, Inter Alia.
Other than composing songs, Areski Belkacem also composed musical scores for cinema ('Jeunesse dorée' or 'A mort la mort') and theater (Fabrice Rozié's 'Transatlantic liaison'). In 2005, based on an idea from Zep and Benoit Mouchart, he created a concert of drawings which shows an original comic strip on a large screen accompanied by live music. The show is now being shown annually at the Angoulême International Comics Festival. He is currently preparing a new solo disc, his second since 'Un beau matin' (1970)."
